Education SpecialistBrigitte is the Education Specialist and an instructor for Wilderness Medical Associates International, where she supports curriculum development, instructor training, and hybrid course innovation. She has been a member of the WMA instructional team since 2017 and brings a trauma-informed, learner-centered approach to wilderness medicine education, shaped by over two decades in education, EMS, and outdoor leadership.
Brigitte holds a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology and a California teaching credential. Her graduate research focused on integrating Cognitive Load and Experiential Learning Theories to enhance hybrid EMS training in high-stress environments.
In addition to her work with WMA, Brigitte teaches EMS courses at Cerro Coso Community College, serves her rural community as an Advanced EMT, and leads instructional programs for Responder Alliance, the American Red Cross, and the Health & Safety Institute.
She has taught wilderness medicine and outdoor skills in diverse environments across North America and Europe, including Alaska, the Sierra Nevada, and the Alps.
Brigitte is passionate about increasing access to inclusive, high-quality training, particularly in rural and underserved communities, and supporting instructors in applying trauma-informed and psychologically safe practices across learning environments.
When she’s not working on instructional design projects, teaching, or responding on the ambulance, you’ll often find Brigitte skiing, hiking, climbing, paddling, or exploring the backcountry with her husband and son. She values curiosity, connection, and continuous growth—both personally and professionally.
