Ãrmann’s initial interest in wilderness medicine, and his career, grew from his lifetime involvement with the Scouting Movement in Iceland, in which he continues to participate and serve in leadership roles. Professionally, Ãrmann is a Paramedic and currently serves as the Wilderness Medical Training Monitor and Supervisor of First Aid for ICE-SAR (Icelandic Association of Search and Rescue) where he has been since 1993. He also serves as the Captain of an ambulance service operating in his small rural town of Selfoss and into the glaciers nearby. Ãrmann became involved with WMA International in 2005, and now teaches five or six classes per year. Outside of work, Ãrmann spends time enjoying the company of his wife and three daughters, hiking, snowmobiling, and scuba diving.
