Currently, Rocco is a flight paramedic in the North Cascades of Washington State as well as an EMS and wilderness medicine instructor. He found his way to emergency and remote medicine by way of his first career in outdoor ed. He graduated from Northland College with a degree in Adventure and Environmental Education. He went on to work as raft guide, professional ski patroller, avalanche technician and an avalanche rescue dog handler. His leadership experience has grown as the owner of a whitewater adventure company, as a search and rescue coordinator, and as a firefighter and paramedic for rural and urban EMS agencies. “What I love about the WMAI curriculum is what a powerful toolbox it is. It works for lay and experienced medical providers. Plus the courses and students are always a ton of fun!”, says Rocco. When he’s not teaching or flying patients around he can be found bikepacking, canoeing, sailing, enjoying all flavors of skiing or traveling to foreign lands.
