Nick Bergen
Nick has worked in the outdoor industry since 2009, starting out as a canoe guide and Paddle Canada instructor for Churchill River Canoe Outfitters in beautiful Missinipe, Saskatchewan. After 10 years of exploring northern Saskatchewan’s 100,000 lakes, he moved further North to work for Nahanni National Park Reserve, where he led the emergency response program and occasionally masqueraded as a scientist. Nick now lives in Whitehorse, Yukon and works for Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site. He is slowly learning to love backpacking (also known as never ending portaging) and is partially adjusted to the lack of dutch ovens and fireboxes. Nick volunteered with Fort Simpson Fire and Ambulance for 5 years, and is now a member of Yukon Search and Rescue. Nick enjoys bringing the recreational, volunteer, and professional experiences together to deliver a WFR course that can fit the needs of each and every person there.
