EMT, WEMT, CA Secondary Teaching Credential in Biological Sciences w/CLAD Emphasis, American Red Cross Instructor, American Safety & Health Institute InstructorBrigitte Denton (she/her) has lived in Mammoth Lakes, California since 2007, where she combines her passions for education, emergency medicine, and outdoor leadership. She holds a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, and a California teaching credential. Her graduate research focused on integrating Cognitive Load and Experiential Learning Theories to improve hybrid training for EMS and wilderness medicine providers. Brigitte began her professional journey as a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard and EMT, serving for 18 years along Southern California’s coastline. She also spent seven years teaching middle school science before transitioning into outdoor education and field-based instruction. Since becoming a Wilderness EMT in 2003, Brigitte has taught mountaineering, backpacking, and sea kayaking across North America and Europe. She continues to serve her rural community as an Advanced EMT on an ALS ambulance in Mono County and teaches EMS courses at Cerro Coso Community College. As the founder of Beyond Limits Education (BLE), a WMA Licensed Training Company, In her roles as an instructional designer and education consultant, Brigitte leads initiatives that expand access to inclusive, high-impact education—particularly in rural and underserved regions. She also serves as the Education Specialist for Wilderness Medical Associates International and is a lead instructor with Responder Alliance, where she teaches topics related to psychological first aid, stress injury prevention, and trauma-informed care in field settings. In addition, Brigitte teaches community-based health and safety courses—including CPR, AED, and first aid—as a lead instructor with the American Red Cross and the Health & Safety Institute (HSI). Brigitte’s teaching is known for its trauma-informed, learner-centered approach. Her ability to adapt instruction to meet a wide range of learner needs is consistently noted by students and peers: “You pushed us, but you were supportive and engaging throughout, and you made it fun.
