Esker Norman

Location

Norman Wells, Canada

Esker has spent the past decade working with youth and adults alike in the wilderness context. From remote whitewater canoe travel in Northern Canada to multiday expedition-style dogsledding in the Svalbard Archipelago, Esker has honed his skills in outdoor experiential education in a variety of world-class settings. When he isn’t at work, he continues to play in the outdoor realm. Whether it is ultramarathon trail running, backcountry skiing, or a remote arctic ice climb – Esker’s passion for adventure has helped him develop a keen understanding of wilderness risk assessment and emergency response. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation from Lakehead University and is the owner and director of Black Spruce Education – an experiential and alternative education organization.
