Garrett Hanson

Garrett Hanson is an Assistant Instructor as of 2023. He is a wildland fire-fighter and EMT-B based out of Taos, NM where he lives with his wife and son. Garrett graduated college at New Mexico State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Geography. He immediately began his path of public service as a volunteer fire fighter and shortly thereafter began working on an Interagency Hotshot Crew for the USFS. Combining his love of skiing, his community and desire to help others Garrett has been a ski patroller with Taos Ski Valley Professional Ski Patrol since 2015. Along with instructing for WMA, he is also an American Heart Association BLS instructor and contract instructor for the state of NM teaching National Wildfire Coordinating Group courses to volunteer fire departments throughout the state. When not working Garrett likes to spend his time with his family and friends, white water rafting, recreationally skiing or watching any episode of Seinfeld for the 100th time.
