Nicki has been working in wilderness settings for over 7 years. She currently works as a captain and course director for Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, and during the off season works as a carpenter in Philadelphia. Her wilderness experience began while working on tall ships on the East and West coasts. Soon after she started working as a sailing, backpacking and canoeing instructor for Outward Bound Schools. During that time, she obtained her EMT certification and volunteers with an emergency ambulance corps, and has also worked as a transport EMT. Nicki has taught frontcountry medicine, and began working with WMA as a wilderness medicine instructor in 2020.
