Rachel has been teaching and practicing wilderness medicine since 2004 when she took her first Wilderness EMS Upgrade course with Wilderness Medical Associates International. Rachel is a passionate and experienced instructor who has taught courses throughout North America and Internationally in China.

Rachel’s paramedicine career began in 2003 and since then has included a wide variety of practice settings in both busy urban centers and low resource rural settings. Rachel currently is an Advanced Care Paramedic working in the rural mountain community of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. Working and living in Southern Alberta presents both incredible opportunities and challenges on a daily basis. Rachel is a volunteer member with the local SAR team – Southern Alberta Regional Search and Rescue. Rachel also volunteers as event medical support for various outdoor adventure based races in her community.

Rachel’s outdoor professional career includes guiding multi day whitewater trips throughout North America for nearly a decade working for Boundless Adventures and NOLS. Though Rachel’s guiding days are done, her days in the backcountry are certainly not, she now regularly adventures with friends and family on foot, on skis, on bikes, in boats, on ropes, anything to get outside and explore. Between regular work, volunteer hours, and recreational activities Rachel can frequently be found in the mountains, on the rivers, or wandering through the foothills.
