Which course should I take?

How do I find a course in my area?
WMA offers courses all over the world, hosted by independent licensed providers trained extensively in the WMA curriculum. Visit our scheduling page here to find one conveniently located near you!
How do I recertify my wilderness medicine credential?
WMA makes it easy to get recertified with widely accessible courses. Visit our recertification page to learn about your options
Can a certification be extended? Is there a grace period?
Unfortunately, no. Certifications are never extended beyond their expiration date, and must be recertified beforehand. However, WMA may extend a students eligibility to recertify in a course that begins after their certification has expired.
How can a certified graduate replace a lost WMA certification card?
A couple options – If you’re enrolled in Moodle you can download a PDF copy from the certification page. Otherwise, you can purchase a new card from our online book store anytime.
What are the minimum age requirements for your courses?
Age requirements vary from course to course. See the minimum requirements for each program on the individual course page.
Is CPR included?
CPR is typically included in our courses, with a few exceptions. If it’s not included, it will be specified in the class description.
How much does a WMA course cost?
All fees are set by the independent licensed trainers hosting the course, so it’s best to contact them directly. You can use our course schedule to find their info.
Can I use my VA/AmeriCorps Education Award to pay for my course?
All course payments are processed through our independent licensed trainers. Please check with the host running your course to see if they are able to accept VA/Americorps Education Award vouchers.
What continuing education credits are available?

Are WMA Courses Coast Guard credentialing approved?
Some, yes! Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Responder Recertification, and Offshore Emergency Medicine are U.S. Coast Guard approved to satisfy First Aid and CPR training requirements for merchant marine licenses.
