Join us for a fast-paced, intensive learning experience…. This WFR is intended for self-directed learners who would benefit from at least 30 hours of pre-course online work and 5 days of hands-on training and experience applying the skills that they were introduced to. If you do not learn well via interactive online experiences, please check out our seven and eight day WFR options.
Be prepared to be outdoors for a lot of the “classroom” time, putting your knowledge and skills to work. If you meet all of the skills and knowledge criteria, you will walk out with industry-standard Wilderness First Responder certification and skills. Not only will you be able to respond to many incidents and emergencies on trail—you will have the knowledge to avoid many of these situations in the first place.
Whether you are looking to up your game as a wilderness guide, or are looking to adventure more safely with your friends and loved ones this course will serve you well.
Full Course DescriptionThis is an intensive version of our standard course and requires 30+ hours of self-directed pre-course review of a textbook and completion of a study guide prior to 40+ hours of in-person learning over the course of five days. Conscientious preparation, studying, and time prior to the course is essential for success. Students are provided an electronic or physical textbook and downloadable study guide to review the curriculum and are expected to come to class ready to engage in drills and skill practice. We recommend that students register for the course four weeks prior to the course start date to allow time to 1) receive the textbook by mail (if applicable), 2) download the PDF Study Guide, and 3) adequately complete the 30+ hours of pre-course work. Students are encouraged to register and begin pre-course review in advance of the required deadlines. All students must complete all pre-course work prior to arrival on course.
