WFA is a great introduction the concepts of wilderness medicine- ideal for personal adventures, and is also a requirement for many outdoor education programs.

Idyllwild: a classic mountain town with world-class climbing and bouldering…phenomenal mountain biking…stellar hiking…with lots of foodie (and a brewpub!) within walking distance. And: Joshua Tree National Park is only 75 minutes away! Small class sizes to enhance quality training, with flexible, reasonable lodging or camping options.

Our 2-Day Wilderness First Aid course includes CPR and is taught at our beautiful private facility bordering National Forest. Lodging available on site in cabins, yurts, or camp on site depending on the season. Other lodging options available in nearby town of Buena Vista, daily bus service from Denver and available shuttle to the course site. Backcountry Lifeline’s Education Director holds a Masters Degree in Education and has over 35 years experience as an outdoor professional.

This is our full in-person 3-Day Recertification. Students will receive online resources but there is no required pre-course work for WMA graduates. Lodging is available at the course site in heated yurts, cabins or camp on site depending on the season. Our property is on a private ranch that borders National Forest, but is only ten minutes from town. Bus service from Denver and available shuttle to the course site.

This course takes place at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre with great access to biking, hiking and ski trails.

Accommodations: A) Camp onsite with your own gear for $19 per night and use the nearby showers and bathrooms. Cook your meals with your camping cookware. B) Book a cabin onsite or a nearby private hotel or Airbnb, C) Commute from home or elsewhere in the region.
