Axel Ernir Vidarsson

I live in Akureyri in the north of Iceland as a full time firefighter/EMT. I have been a member of ICE-SAR since 2005 and I have been teaching for ICE-SAR since 2008. I teach first response, avalanche awareness/rescue and missing persons search techniques. My focus in search and rescue has been medical first response and technical rope rescue. I also teach first aid for the Icelandic Red Cross. I took my first WFR in 2009 and my EMT degree in 2015. In my free time I like all kinds of mountaineering and outdoor activity, especially hiking, trail running and skiing.

Julie Harjung

Julie is a NYS Forest Ranger stationed in the Adirondack Mountains. She is a volunteer EMT and firefighter for the local fire department and teaches CPR & EMT classes locally for the NYS Department of Health. If she has any free time she likes to hike, camp, canoe, and ski. Luckily, all those fun things can also be done while "working".

Katie Woods

Katie’s first introduction to wilderness medicine began in 2006 as a ski patroller at Massanutten Resort in Virginia. She graduated from James Madison University with a BS in Athletic Training in 2008 and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science/Sports Medicine from the University of Utah in 2011. Originally from ‘Almost Heaven’, Katie summers in Fayetteville WV, working as a white water raft guide, independent contractor ATC, and overall outdoor enthusiast.  In her free time, she enjoys making jewelry and hanging out with her dog Moonshine (aka, Shiner). Katie is passionate about sharing the world of wilderness medicine with others and can’t wait to continue traveling around this great country.
