Add (Surachet) Kongsingh

Add Kongsingh is a guide at Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Add has dedicated himself to a life of adventure. His degree in physical fitness has helped him develop a solid foundation of the skills necessary to truly excel in climbing and the outdoors. It is here that Add found his passion for wilderness medicine, and decided to pursue this dream further by coming to the USA to become a Wilderness Medical Instructor. Add is excited at the opportunity to work with such an incredible institution as he learns new skills that will help him achieve his dreams of bringing WMA to Thailand. 


Alex Steiner

Alex Steiner, born and raised in Wisconsin, grew up paddling and hiking everywhere he could. After graduating from Northland College, he took off on adventures abroad, mostly in New Zealand and Southeast Asia where he perfected his wilderness craft. Alex has found a home in California pursuing his passions of ultra running, backpacking, and cycling throughout the state. He currently lives in San Diego alternating his work in emergency medicine and outdoor education. When Alex is not working for WMA, he can be found out on the trail or studying for PA school. 


Ville Melkko

Ville is a firefighter-paramedic from the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. Besides his job, he is finishing his nursing degree and works as a part time ski instructor as well. Ville does all kinds of sports including skiing in its various forms, mountain biking and trekking and likes to travel around the world from the tropics to the arctic and meeting new and interesting people.


Michelle Murphy

Michelle is a full-time firefighter for the city of Pawtucket, RI (the first and only female in the city's history). She currently is an EMT-C, working for both the RI fire academy as a technical rescue instructor and the Barnstable County, MA fire academy. Michelle likes to keep busy and never stops craving new adventures and opportunities for learning. Over the past 20+ years she has been a USAR FEMA instructor, USAR K9 handler (deployments include the Atlanta Olympics, WTC, and Hurricane Katrina), wilderness SAR K9 team member, dive rescue team member and wildland firefighter. For fun she loves hiking, mountain biking, camping, kayaking, horseback riding, and traveling. Michelle lives on Cape Cod with the world's greatest family: her awesome husband "Murph", her daughter Scout, 5 dogs, 3 horses, and 1 pony (for Scout of course). Michelle also has a son Zach, who is a Captain for his fire department, chemistry major, and about to enter Marine OCS.


Gabriel Gunning

Gabe is a water person, either frozen or liquefied. Just add gradient, that’s all it takes; when not paddling or riding, he is thinking about it. Although that takes up a lot of time, he works for Northstar EMS as a WEMT in the northwestern mountains of Maine, where he also works on the Northstar Backcountry Medical Response Team and as a ski patroller. Rounding things out, he spends time as an instructor / guide / medical officer for eNRG Kayaking, an international adventure travel company. Gabe has worked for different outfits on both coasts of the US and has come to find that northern New England has just the right mix of climate and topology to keep him happy.


Jen Buttery

Jen Buttery is a WMA Assistant Instructor. Her first WMA WFR class back in 2009 started her on her emergency medical path from expedition medic in Mongolia, Russia, and Kazakhstan to offshore medical officer and now AEMT and EMT instructor in Maine. She is also now pursuing a masters in public health. After living abroad …
